Papers of Henry Hotze, include a draft of a letter to P. Hamber of London, ca. 1861, "Some arguments in favor of Confederate independence"; a draft of a letter to unidentified editors, ca. 1862 "Anniversary of Washington's birthday" on the Civil War; a draft of a letter to Lord Campbell, 1863 January 24, on the Civil War and British involvement; a draft of a letter to the editor of the New York Herald, 1865 January 24, on the Civil War and French involvement; and the draft of a pamphlet, 1863-66 "Les principes de la colonization par rapport a la question Mexicaine" with an additional section in another hand. There is also a copy of a thesis "Henry Hotze, Confederate propagandist" by Charles P. Cullop; and a photocopy of "Rebel propagandist: Henry Hotze" Chapter 8 of Charles L. Dufour's "Nine men in gray." There is also research material, 1963-1972, regarding Hotze and William Parker Snow.

Charles L. "Pie" Dufour (1903-1996) was a New Orleans newspaperman, author, radio broadcaster, public relations worker, historian, and Tulane University professor. He came from a family that had moved to New Orleans in 1809, and he lived in the city except during the World War II era, when he served in the Army. Adolphus Washington Greely (b. March 27, 1844, Newburyport, Massachusetts-d. October 20, 1935, Washington, D.C.) served throughout the American Civil War and remained in the army at the war's close.
